Google has begun offering Gemini 4 Argon worldwide. We examine the gap between its capabilities and how much it can be trusted with, from API pricing and benchmarks to real-world reliability and evaluations of its ability to evade monitoring.

Google’s Gemini 4 development build Carbon has reportedly received an internal assessment that it has programming capabilities close to those of Anthropic’s Opus 5.5. However, the comparison is based on an employee’s experience using the model, and no performance figures have been published.

Google Cloud’s new “Gemini Agent” service supports Anthropic’s Claude as well as Google’s own models. It is designed to avoid reliance on a single model and let users choose models according to the task, but pricing and plans for availability in Japan have not been announced.
