Combined revenue at 19 major Taiwanese IT companies reached NT$2.7683 trillion (about ¥13.8 trillion) in September 2026, up 45.9% from the same month a year earlier. Revenue has topped the year-earlier level for 31 consecutive months. It also rose 11.8% from the previous month, marking a fifth straight monthly increase. However, the year-over-year growth rate slowed from August.
What the Figures Show About the High Level and Changing Momentum
The first thing to note is the scale of the figures. The 19 companies posted monthly revenue of NT$2.7683 trillion, equivalent to about ¥13.8 trillion. The group includes companies that supply semiconductors and digital products, and its revenue was up more than 40% from the same month a year earlier.
The fact that revenue has exceeded the year-earlier level for 31 consecutive months is also significant. Growth has continued for more than two and a half years, making it more natural to see this as a sustained tailwind than as a one-off demand surge.
There is also a note of moderation in the latest figures: the year-over-year growth rate was lower than in August. That does not mean revenue fell; rather, the pace of growth eased somewhat. It is like a car still traveling on the highway, but with the driver easing off the accelerator a little.
Up 5 Months in a Row From the Previous Month
Year-over-year comparisons are affected by seasonal fluctuations and the level of revenue in the prior year. Looking at month-over-month figures, September revenue was up 11.8%, marking a fifth straight monthly increase.
Even as year-over-year growth slows, monthly revenue continues to build. Year-over-year and month-over-month figures measure different things: the former shows the difference from a year earlier, while the latter reflects recent momentum. Taken together, they show that Taiwan’s IT companies are growing from a high base and are still increasing revenue in the near term.
Past reports based on the same data showed year-over-year growth of 32.1% in April, 38.4% in May, 57% in June and 55% in July, with the rate fluctuating from month to month. September’s 45.9% increase should be viewed in that context.
A Tailwind From AI Server Demand
The latest data show continued revenue growth at electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers and semiconductor companies. EMS is the business of assembling electronic devices on behalf of other companies under their brands. Large equipment such as AI servers also reaches the market through this kind of manufacturing.
Past reports on similar data have also featured headlines saying that contract server manufacturing drove revenue growth. Taiwan’s IT industry appears to be strengthening its presence not only as a production hub for smartphones and PCs, but also as a manufacturing base for AI infrastructure.
One interesting point is that while discussion of AI tends to focus on chat services and apps, the figures show the manufacturing of equipment and supply of components behind them. The intensity of AI demand can be tracked each month in Taiwan’s sales figures.
Differences Between Companies Are the Next Thing to Watch
Even with strong overall results, the 19 companies are not all growing at the same pace. The latest data also show differences in momentum from one company to another.
The aggregate figures are like a thermometer for the market as a whole. But a high temperature and knowing which part of the body is hot are two different things. Companies deeply involved in AI server manufacturing will post different results from those with greater exposure to other fields, such as smartphones, even in the same market environment. In the past, there have been months when servers performed well while smartphone-related businesses struggled.
When reading this kind of news going forward, readers can get a more complete picture of the spread of AI-related investment by looking beyond the overall growth rate and asking which businesses are driving the figures.
